Deelautowijzer.nl is deliberately kept simple. The goal is to help you choose, not to map your behaviour. Below, first in plain language how that works, then the details for those who want to read everything. All in accordance with the GDPR.

2. What data is processed?

Deelautowijzer.nl is deliberately set up to require as little personal data as possible. Here is an overview:

3. Purpose and legal basis

Processing is limited to what is necessary to operate and improve the site. The legal bases under the GDPR are:

Legitimate interest: for anonymous page statistics, security, and preventing abuse.
Consent: not separately requested, because no tracking takes place. Storing your preferences in your own browser is functionally necessary.
Performance of a contract: not applicable. There is no contract between you and Deelautowijzer.nl. Any contract is concluded directly between you and the provider.

4. Cookies and local storage

Deelautowijzer.nl places no tracking cookies. The site does use:

Functional localStorage to remember your preferences (theme, language, last-entered comparison) in your own browser. This data is never sent to a server. You can clear it via your browser settings.
No advertising cookies, no pixels from Google, Meta, or X, and no scripts that identify your device.

Because no tracking cookies are placed, Deelautowijzer.nl does not need to show a cookie banner. This is in line with the Dutch Telecommunications Act and the European ePrivacy Directive.

5. Disclosure to third parties

Personal data is not sold and not shared for marketing purposes. There are a few situations where third parties are involved:

Hosting: the site is hosted by a Dutch hosting provider. The policy for server logs lies with the hosting provider. Because the site is deliberately built to use as little personal data as possible (privacy by design), these logs typically contain very little personal data.
Statistics: the anonymous visitor figures run through Plausible Analytics, a cookieless analytics service hosted in the EU. This loads a small script from that service. No cookies are placed, no IP addresses are stored and no profiles are built.
Clicking through to a provider: when you click through to a provider, you arrive on their website and their privacy terms apply. The click-through itself contains an affiliate identifier, not your personal data.
Font: the Manrope typeface is loaded from this site itself, not via Google Fonts or any other external service. No request is therefore sent to a third party.

6. Retention periods

Server logs: in accordance with the hosting provider's policy. Personal data is deliberately not recorded.
Email messages: up to 24 months after last contact, then deleted.
Anonymised statistics: indefinitely, because they cannot be traced back to an individual.
Browser localStorage: until you clear your browser cache or the site requests its removal.

7. Your rights under the GDPR

Under the General Data Protection Regulation you have a number of rights regarding data processed about you. To the extent that Deelautowijzer.nl processes your personal data (in practice only email correspondence), you can exercise these rights:

Access to what data is stored about you.
Rectification of incorrect or incomplete data.
Erasure of your data (right to erasure), unless a statutory retention obligation applies.
Restriction of processing.
Objection to processing based on legitimate interest.
Portability of your data in a readable file format.
The right to lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens) (autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl).

8. Security

The connection to the site runs via HTTPS (TLS), which encrypts the traffic between your browser and the server. Access to the email inbox is protected by two-factor authentication. No payment data is processed, as Deelautowijzer.nl does not receive payments from visitors.
